After rejecting deportation, female detainee receives extended administrative detention orders

The Palestine News Network reported on Tuesday that detainee Nora Al Hshlamoon, 37, was informed that she will be under administrative detention for additional three months after she rejected an Israeli offer to be deported to Jordan for three years instead of imprisonment.

This is the ninth extension of her remand since she was kidnapped by the army in August 2006. Since then, Al Hshlamoon was never charged and remained imprisoned under administrative detention orders.   Recently, the Israeli prosecution said that Al Hashlamoon can choose between remaining under administrative detention, which could be repeatedly renewed, or be deported to Jordan for three years.

Her husband, Sami, has also been imprisoned under administrative detention orders for two years.

He mother-in-law described the Israeli decision as unjust and added that this decision will increase the suffering of the six children of Nora and Sami as they are encountering psychological problems since the army kidnapped their mother and father, which is affecting their daily life and education.

She voiced an appeal to human rights groups to intervene especially since the children stopped going to school as they became unable to concentrate or even enjoy their childhood as both of their parents are imprisoned by Israel.

A female detainee rejects Israeli offer of deportation instead of imprisonment

The Palestine News Network reported on Sunday that Palestinian female detainee, Noura Al Hashlamoon, 37, from the southern West Bank city of Hebron, rejected an Israeli suggestion of 3-year deportation to Jordan instead of imprisonment under administrative detention.

The Israeli security services presented the offer through the prosecution and said that Al Hashlamoon can choose to be deported to Jordan and can also take her children with her, otherwise she will remain under administrative detention without charges until further notice.

Al Hashlamoon told lawyers of different Human Rights Groups that she rejects this offer as it is illegal and violates the international law. She added that she should be set free as she remains under administrative detention without any charges since she was kidnapped by the Israeli forces in August 2006.

Al Hashlamoon voiced an appeal to human rights groups to intervene and stop the Israeli violations and illegal practices against the Palestinian people. She conducted two hunger strikes in 2007.

In January she went on hunger strike for 22 days and received assurances that she will be freed but then the Prison Administration voided its own vows, and in March this year she conducted a 27-day hunger strike.

Al Hashlamoon received eight consecutive extensions of her administrative detention remand, and is supposed to be released on June 11. But the Israeli security services are planning to renew her administrative detention remand unless she accepts to be deported to Jordan for three years.

She stated that she insists to be freed and be among her children, Fida’, Tahreer, Haneen, Mohammad, Baha’, Jihad and Saraya. It is worth mentioning that the husband of Nora is also imprisoned under administrative detention orders.

There are approximately 950 detainees imprisoned under administrative detention orders, and at least 10.000 Palestinian political detainees are imprisoned by Israel.
