G8 urges Israel to stop settlement construction

Leaders of G8 industrialized nations urged Israel on Wednesday to stop settlement construction in the Palestinian territories.

The leaders, who held a conference in Japan, also called on the Palestinians to stop resorting to violence, so that peace and stability can prevail in the region. Of the other issues, the G8 discussed, were the high oil prices and the promotion of nuclear energy usage instead of oil, to reduce gas emissions.
