A number of Israeli, Palestinian and foreign officials stated many times during the year 2008, that a peace deal between the Palestinians and the Israelis is so close and might be by the end of 2008.Realities on the ground are very much different from the way things are expressed. Given the ongoing colonizing of the West Bank, and the construction of the Wall to consolidate the new and expanded colonies, and to tighten the Israeli control over water resources, there will not be a peace treaty by the end of 2008, not even 2020.
