The mayor survived the attack unharmed. Several private and governmental institutions as well as public figures slammed the attack.

The city council members said that the “cowardice attack is an attack against the interests of the residents and against anybody who seeks the best interests of the city.”

“This attack does not serve the country, does not serve the humanity of the Palestinian people and their interests,” the city council added.

Members of the city council demanded the Palestinian security devices and police probe the attack and apprehend and prosecute the assailants.

On Tuesday morning at approximately at 11, the residents and the city council will launch a massive protest against the attack and in solidarity with the city council and its mayor.
