The PPP said that this is the position of all factions and senior Palestinian political figures in the Holy City.
The PPP added that it supports all forms of public and political activities in Jerusalem in order to boycott these elections as the Jerusalem municipality continues its illegal settlement activities and home demolition policies. The PPP also said that this Israeli policy was part of a campaign against the existence of Palestinians in Jerusalem “as Israeli is ethnically cleansing the Palestinians in the city”. “The Israeli policy is based on the expansion of settlements in Jerusalem and the West Bank, it’s based on the ongoing siege in Gaza”, the PPP statement reads, “the response to this policy should be a real change in the peace process instead of the Israeli deceptive policies which aim at confusing the International community and the world by pretending that there is a peace process going on”. The PPP also said that Israel must respect all United Nations resolutions by ending the occupation and stopping the construction and expansion of settlements. They called on the United Nations and the international community to reject Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem as it is part of the occupied Palestinian territories. |
