Thousands of Palestinians marched on Tuesday, May 1, International Workers Day, in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, demanding that the government implement the “Minimum Wage Law” which is designed to prevent the financial abuse of workers. The protesters chanted “No to injustice, Yes to Wages Law”, and “Yes for a dignified life, reasonable salary”, along with other chants calling for justice and equality.

The protesters marched towards the solidarity tent in place to support Palestinian political prisoners holding an open-ended hunger-strike to demand their legal rights guaranteed by International Law but denied to them by Israel.

Shaher Al-As’ad, Secretary General of the Palestinian Workers Union, stated that the government must implement the law, protect the workers, their wages and rights, and added that “the Union will wage a legal battle against any person who tries to violate the wages law”.
