Media Youth Assembly documented, in their monthly report, nine Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.According to Al Ray Palestinian Media Agency, the report was prepared by the Field Monitoring Unit of the center, and said that the most remarked of these violations involved the arrest of journalists Ahmed Brahmin and Riad Kadriya, at the al-Zaeem checkpoint of occupied East Jerusalem, and that of a foreign photographer who was covering a weekly demonstration in the Ramallah village of Ni’lin.

Israeli authorities also extended the detention of youth activist Suhaib Zahida, arrested for his activity on social media.

This comes following violations cited in which 16 Palestinian journalists and an Italian journalist were killed, with 28 others suffering various injuries, all during the latest Israeli offensive which officially lasted 51 days — this in addition to the destruction of a number of media headquarters and organizations in Gaza.

Palestinian security services, in coordination with Israel, were also noted for their continued arrest and summon campaign against journalists. Preventive Security Service in Ramallah arrested the Head of Media Club at Birzeit University Baraa al-Qadi for his social media posts and other articles.

The report also noted the security service arrests of journalist Mustafa Abu Arrah, in Tubas, and Palestine Today TV producer Mujahid al-Saadi, in Jenin.

No violations were documented in the Gaza Strip, Al Ray further reports.

The assembly additionally called on all institutions concerned with freedom of the press to take action in order to provide protection for journalists who are being attacked on a daily basis, particularly in occupied East Jerusalem.
