Welcome to Palestine Today, a service of the International Middle East Media Center, www.imemc.org, for Wednesday, August, 10, 2016.

Palestinian man killed after being rammed by an Israeli settler, meanwhile eight workers injured in a Gaza tunnel accident.

A Palestinian old man died after he was run over by an Israeli settler near the northern West Bank city of Nablus on Wednesday.

According to local news sources, 85 year old Moussa Salmman was riding his donkey and herding his sheep when he was hit by a motorcycle driven by an Israeli settler. After the incident the settler fled the scene.

Medical sources said that Salmman arrived at al Najah University hospital with critical wounds and died there shortly after.

Elsewhere, four Palestinians were injured on Wednesday at dawn when Israeli soldiers invaded al Amari refugee camp near the central West Bank city of Ramallah and clashed with local youth.

Troops searched homes and kidnapped one civilian before local youth hurled stones at them. Troops responded by firing live rounds and tear gas. All four injured were hit with live gunfire, local sources reported.

Also on Wednesday, Israeli settlers uprooted 500 olive trees owned by a Palestinian farmer from the village of Iskaka near the northern West Bank city of Salfit.

Residents said that the settlers from illegal Israeli settlement of Nefih Hannania under the protection of the Israeli army came to the land and destroyed it and uprooted 500 olive trees.

In Gaza, eight Palestinian workers were injured on Wednesday morning as a tunnel they work in collapsed on them.

Local sources said that the tunnel is located in the eastern part of Gaza city, the workers sustained light to moderate injuries and were moved to hospital for treatment.

Since Israeli implemented its siege son the costal enclave in 2007, the tunnels at the Gaza – Egypt borders became the main sources of much needed food and medicine to the 1.6 million Palestinians living there.
