Three people were reportedly slightly injured after a family feud erupted Sunday between the clans of Almasri and Abu Taha, two major rival families in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis. Witnesses said that the clashes broke out abruptly and those injured were passers-by who came across gun fire while members of the two families were trading shots. The latest clashes between Abu Taha and Almasry are a symptom of the violence which has been ongoing for the past few months. Family feuds have been omnipresent recently across the densely-populated Gaza Strip, which suffers from high rates of poverty and unemployment due to the continued internationally-imposed embargo which has been strangulating the region since last January’s parliamentary elections.
