The Palestinian Detainees’ Committee has reported that the ailing Palestinian detainees in the infamous Ramla Prison Clinic have decided to launch a hunger strike, protesting constant violations and bad conditions.

The Committee said the detainees held various negotiation sessions with the Prison Administration, demanding basic rights guaranteed by International Law and the Four Geneva Conventions, but their legitimate demands remained ignored.

It added that the detainees intend to begin a gradual strike that could extend to several Israeli prisons, detention facilities, and interrogation centers.

Among the basic demands is the right to receive proper and specialized medical treatment, especially since Israel does not allow physicians not associated with the Prison authority and specialists to visit with the detainees and examine them and continues to deny them access to their medical records.
