5 civilians were injured, three of them with live bullets, two with gas bombs, and hundreds suffered from tear gas inhalation on Thursday, during the suppression by the Israeli occupation forces of an event to commemorate Land Day, east of Gaza Governorate.

Wafa News Agency reported that the Israeli occupation soldiers stationed in the east of the Strip fired live bullets and tear gas at the citizens participating in the commemoration of Earth Day, east of the Malka area in eastern Gaza.

This attack resulted in the injury of 5 Palestinians with live bullets and gas bombs, after which they were transferred to the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City. Around 100 others suffered from tear gas inhalation.

Every year on March 30th, Palestinians participate in the annual Land Day celebration, and demonstrate against the confiscation of over 85% of historic Palestine – displacing the indigenous Palestinian residents, setting up military bases and colonies, and then moving Jewish Israeli settler-colonists onto the stolen land. The day has been commemorated the 30th of March since 1976, when Israeli forces killed six Palestinian demonstrators on the same day.
