Israeli soldiers, on Saturday, attacked a number of Palestinian farmers and shepherds in the village of Um al-Khair to the east of Yatta, in the Hebron district, preventing them from reaching their land, said Rateb al-Jubour, coordinator of the anti-settlement committee in southern Hebron.
Al-Jubour told WAFA that the soldiers beat up farmers and shepherds with the butts of their rifles. The soldiers also humiliated them with foul language and denied them access to their water wells and land.
The coordinator called upon international, national and human rights organizations to immediately intervene to put an end to these “systematic Israeli practices”.
Also on Saturday, WAFA reports that Israeli forces chased Palestinian private-owned cars at the Hebron-Jerusalem highway, confiscating one of the cars, according to Mohammad Awad, spokesperson for the anti-settlement committee.
He said army forces ordered the cars passing at the road to stop, checking the identity cards of the passengers and the drivers, as well as seizing a car belonging to a driver from Hebron. The driver, along with his family, were forced to get out of the car.
Six people in Jerusalem and another in the West Bank were abducted by Israeli forces, Saturday, as well, with others being summoned for interrogation, according to reports by local and security sources.
In Jerusalem, Israeli police took six youth, in the predawn hours, and led them to the Russian Police Compound, said Wadi Hilweh Information Center.
Meanwhile in Hebron, army forces kidnapped a youth, aged 19, in the neighborhood of Jabal Jawhar, after raiding and tampering with the contents of his family home.
The army raided several other areas in Hebron and set military checkpoints at the entrances to many villages in the district, causing a traffic jam.
No other arrests were reported.
Meanwhile, in Bethlehem, Israeli forces broke through the village of Shawamreh, serving two people, 41 and 26, with summons to appear for interrogation before the Israeli intelligence headquarters in the nearby Gush Etzion settlement and military compound.
Furthermore, WAFA reports that the army stormed the village of Rummaneh, to the northwest of Jenin, raided a home and interrogated its residents. They also set up checkpoints at roads leading to the nearby villages, causing another traffic jam, but no abductions were reported.
