Israeli online daily, Haaretz, report on Monday that the High Court of Justice rejected on Monday, appeals filed by Israelis and Palestinians against the planned route of the West Bank Separation Wall around Modi’in settlement, near Ramallah.
Following the rejection of the appeal, filed by residents from the municipality of Maccabim-Reut and the Palestinian villages of Beit Sirah and Shuqba, the court also lifted temporary injunctions issued against the construction of the fence in that area, Haaretz added.
Haaretz also said that since the appeals were filed to the court, the Separation Wall route was shifted and is currently 75 meters away from the Green Line which marks the borders of Israel.
Residents of Beit Sirah were also offered, according to Haaretz, 13 Dunams of land in exchange for some of their land, which was placed on the west side of the fence, which barred the residents from reaching them.
Settlers living in Maccabim-Reut said that they wish to change the route of the Wall since it fell too close to their homes.
High Court justices Aharon Barak, Dorit Beinish and Ayala Procaccia, wrote in their ruling that they believe that the "army’s decision falls within the limits of reason", and approved the construction.
