On Monday morning, an Israeli war-jet and a tank fired missiles at Palestinian fighters of the Al Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, while they were present near the Agricultural College in Beit Hanoun, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. One fighter of the Al Aqsa Brigades survived a separate assassination attempt.
A local source in Beit Hanoun reported that the war-jet fired at least one missile at the armed group killing one fighter identified as Husam Abu Eyada, 24, and injuring another fighter.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian security source denied Israeli military reports that claimed that two fighters were killed and a third fighter was injured.
According to Israeli military sources, soldiers exchanged fire with an armed cell of the Islamic Jihad near Karni Crossing, close to the border fence separating the Gaza Strip from Israel.
In a separate incident, an Israeli war-jet fired a missile at the vehicle of Mohammad Hijazi, one of the main leaders of the Al Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Fateh movement, but he survived the attack unharmed.
The attack took place in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza city. Hijazi is considered one of the main fighters who are topping the Israeli assassination list.
A spokesperson of the Al Aqsa Brigades reported that the Israeli war-jet fired at least two missiles at the vehicle of Hijazi and two of his associates in Al Jala’ street, in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood; one fighter was mildly injured.
Several Palestinian armed factions vowed retaliation to the attack, and fired homemade shells at Israeli settlements close to the Gaza Strip borders.
