According to the activists, the settlers tried to prevent them from delivering water to the local Palestinian residents.
"Some 15 masked youths suddenly appeared just as I was finishing to fill the well," one of the participants, Yoel Maharshak, told the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz. "They threw the hose out of the well, closed it and claimed the water was theirs alone."
Maharshak said his group’s activities were coordinated with the army, which had sent 10 soldiers to escort them.
He complained, however, that the soldiers did nothing to stop the settlers from interfering with the action. He alleged that the soldiers were seen conversing with the attackers.
