On Thursday evening, Israeli soldiers fired a barrage of gas bombs into a stadium during a soccer match in the Al-Ram town, north of the occupied capital, Jerusalem, wounding dozens of players and spectators, including children.
Media sources said the soldiers attacked the stadium during a finalist match between Balata Club and Jabal Al-Mokabber as part of the Yasser Arafat Cup competition.
They added that the soldiers fired a barrage of gas bombs into the stadium, wounding dozens of players and spectators, including many children.
Medics rushed to the scene, treated dozens of Palestinians who suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation, and moved three to a hospital.
The Palestinian Football Association denounced the Israeli attack and violation and said it would file a complaint with FIFA.
The Association’s head, Jibril Rajoub, who was attending the match along with the General Turkish Consul, Ahmet Riza Demirer, said this crime was committed in front of cameras, media, and officials and added that he would file complaints not only with FIFA but also the Asian Union and every related organization to expose the Israeli crimes against athletes and sports in occupied Palestine.
