On Monday evening, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death of a Palestinian whom Israeli soldiers shot and seriously injured in Beit Ummar town north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, during the funeral procession of a young man killed by the soldiers earlier.

The Health Ministry said the soldiers killed Montaser Abdul-Hamid Za’aqeeq, 31, after shooting him with a live round to the head.

It added that the soldiers also shot four Palestinians with live fire and caused many to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

Za’aqeeq was a former political prisoner who spent many years in Israeli prisons, detention, and interrogation facilities.

The Palestinians were holding the funeral procession of Mahmoud Bassem Ekhmayyes, 18 years old, who died from wounds after being shot by the Israeli occupation forces in Beit Ummar.
