Israeli soldiers injured, on Sunday evening, at least twenty-one Palestinians who were gathered in front of Ofer prison in Beitunia town, west of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank, awaiting the release of the third group of detainees being held in Israeli prisons.
Palestinian families awaiting the release of detainees held by the occupation were present in the vicinity of the “Ofer” prison when Israeli soldiers opened fire with live rounds, rubber-coated steel rounds, and tear gas canisters.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said that its ambulance crews treated 21 citizens with various injuries, including 7 from live ammunition, 4 from rubber-coated steel rounds, and 10 from inhalation injuries as a result of tear gas exposure.
The PRCS added that a Palestinian journalist was shot with a injured by a rubber-coated steel round after soldiers targeted journalists with tear gas canisters and concussion grenades, forcing them out of the area, in addition to confiscating photography equipment.
On Friday the army attacked families who waited in front of the prison to receive the first group of detainees being released, injuring at least thirty-one Palestinians.
Two children were among the three who were shot with live rounds, while four, including a photojournalist were shot with rubber-coated steel rounds.
Additionally 22 people sustained inhalation injuries from tear gas exposure, and 2 suffered injuries as a result of falls.
On Saturday evening, Israeli occupation forces opened fire with live rounds and tear gas canisters at the families of the second group of Palestinian detainees set for release, shooting four citizens with live rounds, including a child.
