The Palestinian Center for Communication and Development issued a press release on Monday slamming the abduction of a Alan Johnson on Monday afternoon in Gaza City. Johnson was abducted by an unknown group of gunmen.The Center called for a total re-evaluation of the relation between reporters and civilians, and called for the provision of journalists and foreigners with the necessary immunity to ensure their safety.
The Center also demanded that the Palestinian security and police act immediately in order to locate the abducted reporter, ensure his safe release and to take measures to ensure that such practices and violations are not repeated.
‘These abductions harm the Palestinian image’, the center stated, ‘They harm our struggle and our cause’.
The Center expressed its full solidarity with the abducted reporter, and called for the protection of all reporters and foreigners working in Palestine and elsewhere.
