Sabri arrived at the crossing point between Jordan and the occupied West Bank, and was forced back. Sheikh Sabri was heading to Jordan on Monday morning to participate in a week-long Islamic Conference.
He stated that when he presented his passport and official papers to the authorities at the crossing, they informed him that he is barred from leaving the country. The Israeli authorities which exert control over the Palestine/Jordan border provided no explanation or justification for this illegal act.
Sheikh Sabri said that this Israeli decision contradicts the international norms and regulations, and all basic laws of human rights.
Sabri added that this decision also violates the freedom of opinion and expression, and called on the international community to intervene and stop the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories.
