On Monday, Palestinian Medical sources announced the death of Sheikh Ziad Abu Ehlayyel (66 years old) after he was violently assaulted by Israeli soldiers who stormed his home in the town of Doura, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank’s southern part.
The sources reported that the soldiers invaded Sheikh Ziad’s home early Monday morning and repeatedly assaulted him until he lost consciousness.
Palestinian medics rushed the seriously wounded man to Doura Hospital, but the medical staff declared his death soon after due to his severe injuries.
Sheikh Abu Ehlayyel was a well-known tribal figure who was also repeatedly assaulted and injured by Israeli soldiers during various invasions of the town.
Quds News Network published an archive video of Sheikh Ziad talking to the soldiers and trying to prevent them from firing at a nonviolent procession.
In the video, Sheikh Yousef was telling the soldiers to stop shooting, “Wed don’t want you to shoot anyone, we don’t want you to kill anyone; this is a nonviolent procession, why do you keep shooting at them, why don’t you stop your settlers from attacking us…”
On Saturday, Israeli forces fatally shot a former political prisoner, Ahmad Mustafa Ahmad Awaisa, 30, with several live rounds, before abducting him.
Israeli has now killed 743 Palestinians, including children, in several parts of the occupied West Bank, mainly in Jenin and Tulkarem, since October 7, 2023.
The distribution of those killed in the West Bank is as follows; 196 in Jenin, 170 in Tulkarem, 75 in Nablus, 75 in Hebron, 59 in Ramallah, 58 in Tubas, 45 in Jerusalem, 29 in Qalqilia, 19 in Bethlehem, 12 in Jericho, 12 inside Israel, and 4 in Salfit.
The Israeli occupation forces also continue their aggression on the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the killing of 41,870 citizens and the injury of 97,166 others, in an incomplete toll, as thousands of people are still missing under the rubble.
Among the slain Palestinians are at least 16,891 children, 11,458 women, 174 journalists, 85 emergency responders, 986 medical staff, and 203 UNRWA staff.
The British Lancet Medical Journal and other experts estimate the death toll in Gaza is much higher – and could be above 200,000, when counting both direct and indirect deaths related to the Israeli war on Gaza.
