On Thursday morning, a Palestinian woman and her son with Down syndrome were injured by shrapnel following an Israeli drone strike in Tulkarem refugee camp, in the occupied West Bank’s northwestern part.
Faisal Salama, head of the Popular Committee for Services in Tulkarem camp, said an Israeli drone targeted residents in the center of the refugee camp, causing injuries to the woman and her son.
Salama added that the woman, identified as Siham Hamdan, 57, sustained a head injury and was transported to Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital by Red Crescent ambulance.
He stated that the woman’s son, Hassan Mohammad Hamdan, 30, was also injured in the head, but the soldiers refused to allow the medics to reach him.
Salama noted that the refugee camp is currently in a dire situation, with the invading Israeli forces firing intensively and indiscriminately, supported by reconnaissance aircraft that have been hovering over the area since the beginning of the invasion.
It is worth mentioning that armored Israeli military vehicles, including bulldozers, invaded Tulkarem camp, specifically the neighborhoods of Al-Moqata’a, Al-Balawna, the schools’ neighborhood, and Marba’at Hannoun, before destroying infrastructure and private property, in addition to placing dirt on the doors of homes and shops.
The army also deployed snipers on the rooftops of high buildings within and around the refugee camp, firing at anything that moved, while the soldiers invaded and ransacked several homes and the Shuhada Mosque in the Marba’a neighborhood.
The army later deployed additional military reinforcements to Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, imposing a siege on them.
The army began the invasion of Tulkarem and Tulkarem refugee camp at about two after midnight, for the second time in about 24 hours.
Many military vehicles, accompanied by four heavy bulldozers, entered the city from its western area, moving towards Al-Alami Roundabout, then towards Al-Younis Roundabout, As-Sikka Street, and Al-Kitab Roundabout, heading towards Nur Shams camp east of the city.
The invading military vehicles closed the area around “Martyr Saif Abu Libda Roundabout” at the entrance of Nur Shams refugee camp, amid protests and intense low-altitude reconnaissance drone activity.
The military bulldozers leveled Nablus Street at the entrance of the refugee camp and destroyed infrastructure and citizens’ properties, similar to previous invasions and violations.
Many armored military vehicles, including bulldozers, also invaded Tulkarem city after midnight from its northern area, before advancing into various parts of the city, especially the eastern areas.
Additionally, the Tulkarem Directorate of Education announced the suspension of school day in the city and its suburbs due to the ongoing incursion into the city and its refugee camps.
At dawn on Thursday, Israeli soldiers shot and injured a young man in the Palestinian town of Anata, northeast of the occupied capital, Jerusalem, in the West Bank.
On Wednesday night, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man, Abdullah Mohammad Saeed Saadi, 53, injured several citizens and abducted others, during a prolonged military assault on the northern West Bank city of Jenin and its refugee camp.
Also, a young man suffered fractures and bruises after being severely beaten by Israeli occupation soldiers east of Bethlehem, south of occupied Jerusalem, in the West Bank.
