On Tuesday, many Israeli military vehicles invaded Sebastia, a Palestinian town northwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank’s northern part, before heading to the archaeological area.
Mohammad Azem, the Mayor of Sebastia, said many vehicles invaded the town after closing streets and advanced to the archaeological site.
Azem added that the invasion is the second since Monday evening, leading to protests, before the soldiers fired live rounds, gas bombs, and concussion grenades.
The Mayor also stated that, over the last four days, the army has been invading the archaeological site in Sebastia to install a new military base, and that the soldiers frequently assault the Palestinian workers at the site, forcing them to leave.
It is worth mentioning that the soldiers frequently invade Sebastia to accompany groups of colonialist settlers into the archaeological area, which the military wants to impose its full control on to prevent the Palestinians from entering it.
