Israeli forces invaded the house of Sheikh Jamal al Taweel, Mayor of the central West Bank city of al Bireh on Friday morning. After searching and ransacking the house, the Army gave orders for the mayor and his son to be interviewed by Israeli intelligence.
Sheikh al Taweel was elected Mayor for al Bireh while he was imprisoned in the Israeli detention centers where he spent five years. Al Taweel was released less than a month ago.
Al Taweel stated that ‘this operation will strengthen our determination to achieve our rights and will further our resistance despite the obstacles placed by the Israelis.’.
