The News Cast
Two Palestinian men were injured and taken by Israeli troops during an overnight invasion targeting the villages near Jenin city, northern West Bank. Israeli forces stormed the villages of al-Yamon, and surrounded the home of Bajess Hamdiyah, 32 years old.
Meanwhile soldiers surrounded the house of Ala Ziod, 33, in the nearby village of Silyat al-Harthiya. Troops searched the two homes and did not find the two men.
As a result, another group of forces surrounded a home located in Kufer Dan, a nearby village. Troops clashed with the two men until early morning before soldiers’ injured them both and took them away. Both Hamdiyah and Ziod are thought to be leaders in the al-Aqsa brigades, the armed wing of the Fatah movement, local sources reported.
Elsewhere, invasions targeted the central West Bank village of Nabi-saleh and a nearby refugee camp, on Tuesday. Local sources said that soldiers searched homes the village of Nabi-Saleh and detained five men. Meanwhile other forces attack residents’ homes at Ein Areek camp for Palestinian refugees and detained four men.
Also in central West Bank, an Israeli military camp came under fire on Tuesday late at night, Israeli sources reported. The Israeli army told media that the rounds came from a M-16 machine gun.
The army added those shots were fired in the air from a nearby Palestinian village. The army accused Israeli right wing groups of the attack adding it may have been an attempt to cause a military retaliation on the Palestinian villagers living nearby.
In other news Israeli soldiers attacked on Wednesday morning home and land owners from Beit Jala town, near Bethlehem southern West Bank, when they protested the destruction of their land to build a new section of the Wall.
Residents along with international and Israeli supporters gathered near the site and tried to stop the bulldozers from destroying their olive trees. Troops arrived at the location and attacked people using rifle butts and batons and removed them while bulldozers continued its work. The army started to bulldoze land at the new location on Tuesday.
Back in 2004 the International Court of Justice at the Hague announced that the Israeli wall built in the West Bank is illegal.
