Israeli forces are carrying out a large-scale invasion of Anata and Shu’fat refugee camp, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, enforcing a curfew, sealing all entrances, breaking into homes and businesses, abducting Palestinians, and destroying water infrastructure.
Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers invaded the two communities at dawn Tuesday as soldiers deployed across neighborhoods and streets. Using loudspeakers mounted on military vehicles, the army announced a curfew in Anata and the refugee camp.
Local sources said soldiers have closed every entrance to Anata and Shu’fat refugee camp and are preventing Palestinians from entering or leaving as the military invasion and extensive deployment continue.
Troops broke into homes, shops, and other private properties, searched them, forced open doors, and damaged their contents.
In Anata, soldiers detained dozens of Palestinians for field interrogation. Among those identified was Mohannad Fayeq ar-Rifai, whose home was invaded, searched, and ransacked.
The army also abducted brothers Yasser and Ziad Sari Fheidat from the Fheidat neighborhood, along with Issa Mousa Issa. As the invasion continued, soldiers invaded and searched the home of Abdul-Salam Ahmad Salama.
Later at dawn, soldiers abducted Mohammad Issa Hawamda, Khader Odah Abu Haniyya, Hamza Jamal Hamdan, and an unidentified woman from Anata.
They also invaded the homes of Khalil Hassan Abu Omayya and Ashraf Odah Abu Haniyya. The army occupied the home of Kamal Taher Salama and converted it into a field interrogation center for detainees.
Under heavy military protection, Israeli bulldozers began uprooting main water lines in Anata, threatening to disrupt supplies to residents during the ongoing invasion.
The damage to the water network, combined with the closure of the area’s entrances and restrictions on movement, is worsening living conditions and threatening essential services.
In Shu’fat refugee camp, soldiers invaded shops and private properties, forced open doors, and searched the premises while troops remained deployed across the camp and Anata.
Military vehicles and soldiers have remained heavily deployed for hours as the army continues to carry out abductions and invade homes, shops, and other facilities.
In a separate incident, Israeli colonizers hurled stones at a Palestinian vehicle as it traveled through the tunnel linking al-Jib and Biddu, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, causing damage.
The Jerusalem Governorate described the ongoing invasion of Anata and Shu’fat refugee camp as a systematic military assault similar to the Israeli attack on Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, in early August.
It said the assault is part of an escalating Israeli policy targeting Palestinian communities around occupied Jerusalem, imposing collective punishment, and suppressing residents’ movement and daily life by military force.
The governorate warned that the closures, curfew, home and business invasions, abductions, and destruction of water infrastructure amount to a severe escalation affecting civilians, their property, and essential services.
