At least 20 thousand Palestinian residents of Israel took to the streets on Monday, in the city of Nazareth, to protest against the Israeli military attacks against their fellow Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of more than 500 Palestinians and around 14 Israeli soldiers in the past two weeks.Arabs 48 news website said at least 15 protestors were arrested by the Israeli police who tried to stop the protest as it arrived in the city centre. The protest was called for by the follow-up committee in Nazareth.
A similar but smaller protest was organized in the town of Beit Sahour, near Bethlehem, Monday evening.
Hundreds of Palestinians and Internationals took to the streets carrying Palestinian flags and signs, condemning the Israeli attacks and calling for international intervention to stop “massacres against unarmed civilians” in the Gaza Strip. The protest was called for by the political factions and the civil society organizations in town.
The protestors expressed anger at the slaughter of hundreds of Palestinian civilians by the Israeli airstrikes and artillery attacks, as most of the victims were killed inside their homes or in the streets fleeing their targeted homes, especially in al-Shuja’eyya neighbourhood east of Gaza City.
Some of the demands were addressed to the international media to report the truth from Gaza to show the world the slaughter of civilians at the hands of the Israeli military.
A number of the protesters went to the nearby former Israeli military base, known as Ush Ghrab, and protested there, where the Israeli army has installed a military tower and the setters established a Jewish center on the land of Beit Sahour.
An IMEMC reporter said the stationed Israeli soldiers showered the protesters with tear gas in order to disperse them but they insisted to continue.
