As the Disengagement plan is moving into the Knesset’s legislative agenda, a number of Mk’s are moving the business and homes to areas slated for evacuation.
National Union Party leader Arye Eldad moved on Tuesday to a home in Sa-Nur settlement, near the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
“These settlements are forgotten now, in the Shadow of Gush Katif in the Gaza Stripâ€Â, Eldad said.
Sa-Nur in inhibited by 100 settlers, it is located near Homesh between the northern West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin.
The northern West Bank settlement of Ganim and Qadim in addition to Sa-Nur and Homesh are designated for evacuation in accordance to the Disengagement plan.
Elad and his wife had many of their furniture and belongings moved to the space they rented in the settlement; their dining room set, refrigerator, desk and fax machines and clothes., The Jerusalem Post reported.
He said that we will be setting a parliamentary office at the settlement and “hoped that his presence will influence in calming the potentials tension between settlers and soldiersâ€Â.
Meanwhile, MK Uri Ariel found a home in the southern Gaza Strip settlement of Kfar Darom and will be moving there soon, Effi Eitam, member of the National Religious Zionist Renewal Party has already moved into Gush Katif settlement in the Gaza Strip.
Eldad said that settlers of Ganim and Qadim agreed to move, but they are apposing it now because they are offered a “small compensation packageâ€Â.
Eldad, the chairman of Knesset Ethics Committee said that his presence at Sa-Nur is not violating the law, and that his parliamentary immunity enables him freedom of movement adding that “he is representing his votersâ€Â.
Recently the Israeli government decided that it will not be responsible for the security of Israeli, even MK’s, if they decide to remain in the Gaza Strip after it is announced a closed military zone during the evacuation process.
