Palestinian informed sources said eight Palestinian officers refused to receive honor badges offered by the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas protesting his decision to force-retire them.
Nine brigadiers and one major general were to receive honor badges for their service in the Palestinian authority.
A close source to the officers told Ramatan news agency, ‘We refuse to receive these badges. The new distribution of tasks and ranks is biased’ adding that they see that these badges as ‘termination to their services, and their struggle, something that they totally reject, and promised top resume their struggle.’
‘We also reject these badges because it is not fair and based on instructions by foreign people,’ the same source added.
The Palestinian authority had to delay the ceremony as a result of their refusal.
Abbas has signed forced-retirement to some 1150 security officers in his attempt to reform the Palestinian security forces.
