Palestinian local sources in Arraba village identified the Palestinian killed near the village to be Mohammed Mustafa Amin Al-Haj, dismissing the army report that he was killed in an exchange of fire.
Eyewitnesses said on Sunday that soldiers opened fire at a civilian car, killing Al-Haj and wounding two others.
Soldiers kill Palestinian in an exchange of fire near Jenin
An Israeli military source reported Saturday that one armed Palestinian was killed and two others lightly wounded as soldiers opened fire at a car passing near a military base in the northern West Bank.
The source said that soldiers opened fire after the gunmen opened fire at soldiers stationed near the village of Arraba south of the West Bank city of Jenin.
The two wounded were arrested and moved to an Israeli hospital for treatment.
So far no information on the incident was available from Palestinian sources. The names of the three, claimed to be armed, were not disclosed, and so far no resistance groups has declared responsibility for the claimed attack.
