A Palestinian source reported Saturday that soldiers ambushed and detained a leading member in the Belien’s village anti-wall committee.

Eyewitnesses said that soldiers blocked on Friday the way of a service car near the town of Beitunia, near the West Bank city of Ramallah, ordered passengers to step out of the car and detained Samir Burnat, a leading organizer of peaceful protests against the construction of the separation wall. Burnat was moved to an unknown distenation.

Burnat is also the president of Belein’s sports club.

Belein has been the site of daily protests against the construction of the separation wall on land privately owned by villagers.

The anti-wall committee together with International and Israeli peace activist have organized dozens of protests in attempts to prevent Israel from construction the wall, which takes over most of villagers’ farmland.
