Israeli soldiers and Palestinian resistance fighters exchanged fire on Sunday at the Philadelphi route in the southern Gaza Strip, one soldiers and one Palestinia fighter were killed, two soldiers were wounded.

The Islamic Jihad and the Abu Rish Brigades, a group loosely affiliated with the Fatah movement, said that a joint group of their fighters engaged in an exchange of fire of Israeli soldiers.

According to the Israeli military, soldiers and civilians carrying out engineering work along the border route were subjected to tow anti-tank missiles and machine gun fire.

Soldiers returned fire, killing one of the attackers. A second attacker escaped, the army said.
