Yonatan Bassi, in charge of the Disengagement Authority said Monday that Israel will arrange ‘caravillas’ as temporary accomodation for the Gaza settlers.
By August first, 160 of the planned 320 ‘caravillas’ will stand ready in Nitzan, northwest Negev.
Jewish settlers in Gaza have threatened to commit suicide if they are not given decent enough housing options, Bassi reported.
‘People must take responsibility and let us know where they want to live. Whoever decides that he wants to live in a tent – that is his choice,’ said director general of the Prime Minister’s Office Ilan Cohen, according to The Jerusalem Post. ‘There are hundreds of apartments available for rent and plenty of temporary housing units available.’
