On Friday, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PCRCS) said the Israeli army bombed the area immediately adjacent to Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, less than a day after targeting the medical facility where about 14.000 Palestinians are sheltering.
On Friday afternoon in Khan Younis, 13 Palestinians were killed by an Israeli airstrike on the al-Manara neighborhood in the city, in addition to the ongoing attacks on the medical facility.
The PRCS voiced appeals to all international human rights and medical institutions, including the partners at the International Committee of the Red Cross (IRCS), to immediately intervene and ensure the protection of all medical facilities, medics, staff, and the wounded.
It added that Israeli is constantly violating International Law, International Humanitarian Law, and the Fourth Geneva Convention, but is ongoing not only in homes and civilian areas but also in hospitals and medical centers.
The PRCS expressed deep concerns about the repeated targeting of its hospital, its headquarters, and its offices in several parts of the Gaza Strip, especially since thousands of Palestinians are sheltering there, including about 14000 in Al-Amal hospital and the society’s building in Khan Younis.
It said that the Israeli army killed seven Palestinians, including a five-day newborn, in addition to dozens of injuries, over the past three days, after targeting several floors of the Red Crescent Society Building, in addition to the dozens who were killed and injured after the army fired missiles at them while trying to shelter near the Al-Amal Hospital.
The PRCS stated that the bombing also damaged the VHF communications system, which was the only remaining means to receive urgent calls after all sorts of communication tools and towers had been targeted and destroyed by Israel in its ongoing onslaught.
The society added that the areas around the Al-Amal Hospital have been subject to intense Israeli bombing for the past two weeks, forcing dozens of families to flee again, fearing for their lives after they sheltered in and near the medical facility, believing they might be safe from Israel’s bombing.
Less than a week ago, the Israeli missiles killed eleven Palestinians and injured dozens in front of the Al-Amal Hospital.
Since Israel began the bombing and shelling of Gaza on October 7, 2023, hospitals, medical centers, medical crews, medics, and ambulances have been subject to repeated bombings and violations in direct violation of International Law.
Friday marks day 91 of the onslaught on Gaza; the Israeli army continued its indiscriminate bombing and shelling of civilian areas in the Gaza Strip, killing dozens of Palestinians, including ten medics, and wounding hundreds.
Israel has now killed at least 22.430 Palestinians, including 9730 children and 6830 women, in addition to 7000 missing, largely buried under the rubble, and injured more than 57.600, mostly women and children, in 91 days.
In the predawn hours of Friday, Israeli forces shot and killed Osaid Tariq Anis Al-Rimawi, 17, and injured seven young men in the town of Beit Rima, northwest of Ramallah in the central West Bank.
