Soldiers detained dozens of residents, and severely clubbed them while interrogating them after forcing out of their homes.

The invasion was carried out after the Israeli Defense Minister, Shaul Mofaz, gave direct orders to his soldiers instructing them “not to have mercy on checkpoints” and intensify their activities in the West Bank.

Senior Israeli military officials said that the main arena of conflict is expected to move to the West Bank after the army withdrew from the Gaza Strip.
