Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, cancelled his meeting with Sharon which was scheduled for October, 2, 2005.
Abbas said on Sunday morning in Ramallah, that he will not meet with Sharon, since such a meeting is “fruitlessâ€Â, especially since Sharon decided to operate in the Palestinian territories.
Sharon and his Minister of Defense launched a wide-scaled military operation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Soldiers shelled several areas in the Gaza Strip over night; dozens of residents were injured, and arrested more than 200 residents in the West Bank.
