Israeli soldiers resumed, on Saturday evening, the military attacks against the Gaza Strip, and shelled several areas after a Palestinian resistance group fired a homemade shell at the Israeli Negev town of Sderot, the shell exploded in an open area.
A Palestinian security source in Gaza reported that military war-jets fired several missiles at Palestinian areas said to be used by the resistance to fire homemade shells.
Power suppliers and electricity generators were hit causing power failure in vast areas in the Gaza Strip.
Nasser Yousef, Palestinian Minister of Interior said on Saturday that the P.A will act firmly against workshops used to manufacture homemade shells, but avoided commenting on the disarmament of the resistance factions.
The Al Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, reported on Saturday that it fired four homemade shells at Israeli towns, while the Al Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Fateh said that it fired two homemade shells at the Israeli Negev town of Sderot.
Also, the Palestinian Authority rejected the Israeli plan to create a “security zone” in the Gaza strip, and installed an artillery battery in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, which will accumulate to a battery which is already operational in the northern part.
According to the “security zone” plan, Israel will create isolated areas in the Gaza Strip; Palestinian residents will not be allowed to enter these area, automatic batteries will fire missiles at any resident who enters these areas, even accidentally.
The army says that these areas are used by the Palestinian faction to fire homemade shells against Israeli targets.
Another battery will be installed in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli military plan.
Tawfik Abu Khousa, spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior and National security, said that these plans are totally rejected by the P.A, and that the Palestinians reject any Israeli security zone inside the borders of the Gaza Strip.
“This suggestion is part of the Israeli mentality which aims to resume the assaults against our people”, Abu Khousa said, “We can’t accept the presence of this threat among us, this also includes their war-jets and their rocket luachners”.
Commenting on the statements of the Israeli Defense Minister, Shaul Mofaz, who said that Israel does not have a Palestinian partner for peace, Abu Khousa said that Israel never dealt with the Palestinians as peace partners.
“These statements prove that Israel is attempting avoid implementing its obligations”, Abu Khousa said, “the military aggression against our people is part of a wider Israeli plan for further operation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip”.
