Al Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Fateh, and Salah Ed Deen Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, claimed conjoint responsibility for shelling the Israeli Negev town of Sderot and Kibbutz Zakim, near Al Majdal, north of Israel.
The three armed groups said on Monday morning that the shelling comes in response to the continuous military escalation, and the assassination of the three fighters of the Islamic Jihad in Qabatia town, south of the Wets Bank city of Jenin.
“Residents of Sderot, and Al Majdal will not feel safe as long as our people in Jenin and Tulkarem do not feel safe”, the statement of the three brigades reads, “We fired three shells at Sderot after midnight, we also fired several shells on Sunday before midnight”.
The three brigades also fired five shells at Kibbutz Zakim, near Al Majdal village, north of Israel.
The firing of the homemade shells comes in retaliation to the assassination of three fighters of the Islamic Jihad in Qabatia town, near the West Bank city of Jenin on Sunday at night. Three fighters were killed, seven residents were injured. One of the injured residents, identified as Mohammad Kamil, 21, a student of Al Quds Open University, was pronounced clinically dead.
