Palestinian Cabinet Minister, and Chief Negotiator, Dr. Saeb Erekat, said on Sunday that the P.A will discuss several important issues with the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, during his visit to the region this week.
“We will discuss issues regarding the Palestinian detainees, deportees, and wanted fighters”, Erekat said, “We will also discuss reactivating the committees which are in charge of talks regarding these issues, and further Israeli withdrawals”.
Also, Erekat added that Israel unilaterally stopped all talks with the P.A regarding these issues, and expressed the readiness of the P.A to renew these talks.
Erekat stated that any meeting between the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon depends on arriving to positive results during these talks.
Erekat believes that Rice will pressure Israel in order to cancel the restrictions it imposed on the crossing of goods through the Karni and Erez crossings, in the Gaza strip.
“We will also hold talks issues regarding Jerusalem, settlements and the Separation Wall”, Erekat added, “We will also discuss the upcoming legislative elections”.
