An unidentified gunman shot a Palestinian man in the city center of the West Bank city of Bethlehem Monday afternoon.
50 year old Mubarak Abu Mehamid sustained serious injuries, after being shot at close range in the chest area. He was transferred to Beit Jala Government hospital to undergo surgery.
Abu Mehamid is a resident of the village of Al Furdis, east of Bethlehem. Palestinian police are currently conducting a search for the gunman, whose motive remains unclear.
