Ma’er Merghlit, an Israeli activist and member of ICAHD (the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions) revealed Thursday morning that $600,000 USD had been designated in 2005 by the Israeli Municipal Government in Jerusalem for home demolitions.

These homes are demolished allegedly for lacking building permits, but no building permits have been issued to Palestinians since 1967. Nearly 100% of the homes demolished lie in the planned path of the Israeli annexation Wall.

Merghlit also exposed the fact that during the year of 2004, the Israeli Municipal Government in Jerusalem demolished 90 houses, including six and seven story buildings (the first time the municipality had destroyed large, multi-family apartment buildings in this way), while in 2005, it demolished 152 house allegedly built without licenses.
