Wednesday morning, a Palestinian medical source in Qabatia town, south the West Bank city of Jenin, reported that a mentally challenged child was shot and killed by Israeli military fire during an invasion to the town.The child, Aref Ameen Samadi, 15, was carrying a toy gun, eyewitnesses reported, although some sources claimed that it was only a stick. He suffered a gunshot injury in his chest, and died immediately.
A Palestinian security source in Qabatia reported that clashes erupted in the town after the Israeli soldiers invaded it and broke into homes; and Palestinian youth began throwing stones and empty bottles at the invading forces.
Also, several children had to be treated after inhaling gas fired by the army near an elementary school in the center of Qabatia.
Soldiers invaded Qabatia on Wednesday at dawn after surrounding it and conducted military searches of homes.
A local source in the town reported that dozens of armored military vehicles and jeeps conducted the invasion after completely surrounding it.
At least 38 residents were arrested on Wednesday in separate invasions by the army in the West Bank cities of Nablus, Jenin, Hebron, Tulkarem and Bethlehem.
