Palestinian sources reported on Monday morning that one Palestinian fighter was shot and killed by Israeli military fire east of Gaza city.

The source stated that fighters of the Al Quds Brigades and the Popular Resistance Committees exchanged fire with an Israeli military force in an area close to the borders with Israel, east of Gaza city.

The fighter killed in the clashes is a member of the Salah Ed Deen Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees; he was identified as Abdul-Mo’ty Shaker Al ‘Or, 25.

Abu Mojahed, media spokesperson of the Popular Resistance Committees reported that a joint group of the two brigades exchanged fire with a Special Israeli military force operating north of Gaza.

The body of Al ‘Or was found east of Al Shuhada Graveyard, east of Gaza.

Commenting on the incident, an Israeli military spokesperson claimed that troops opened fire on three Palestinians trying to get across the Gaza Strip’s “security fence”, near the Karni cargo crossing.

“One of the Palestinians was shot dead, and the other two fled. On the body of the dead man, the soldiers found a Kalashnikov rifle, and a ladder nearby”, the source added.

Also, the source claimed that the killed fighter was shot as he planted explosives near the “security fence”.

The source added that after the shooting, the army fired artillery rounds at empty fields in northern Gaza. Army spokesperson claimed that these areas were used by resistance fighters overnight to fire homemade shells into Israeli settlements close to the Gaza Strip.

The incident took place as the Israeli army continued its shelling to Palestinian areas in the eastern and northern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Several residents were killed and injured over the last several days as a result of the continuous Israeli military shelling to residential areas in the eastern and northern parts of the Gaza Strip.
