Israeli online daily Haaretz reported that Israeli security arrested a Palestinian resident Wednesday in the Israeli town of Hod Hasharon that is suspected of planning to carry out a suicide bombing in the Sharon region.

The security forces also arrested an Arab man from Kafr Qasem, who the Israeli authorities suspected of aiding the would-be suicide bomber, according to Israeli sources.

The sources did not report whether explosives were found with the alleged bomber.

Haaretz added that the man was arrested after the army conducted what was described as an intense manhunt, during which ‘high alert’ was declared in the Sharon region.

Roadblocks were also installed at the entrances to Kfar Saba, Petah Tikva and other towns in the area.

High alert was declared after security officials received a warning Wednesday morning that a Palestinian terrorist had infiltrated Israel with the intention of carrying out an attack. High alert was announced, but was removed after the arrest.
