Eleven people were killed and 11 wounded when Israeli warplanes bombed northern Lebanon Friday morning, AlJazeera reported. At the same time, at the UN headquarters in New York, Russia proposed a 72-hour humanitarian truce, which Israel immediately rejected.
Dan Gillerman, Israel’s representative to the United Nations to Israeli public radio that a truce would be, “a very bad solution” claiming "it would allow Hizbullah to regroup."
According to AlJazeera in Lebanon, attacks continued on areas in the South, including Khaim Qulayha, Buj al-Maluke and Marjayoun. “Intensive shelling, bombardment, rocket-firing and ground exchanges were reported,” stated a UN force in the south.
Israeli warplanes also hit southern suburbs of Beirut and two border crossings in north and east Lebanon.
