Mahmoud Zomlot, 15 years old, was killed and approximately 33 other
residents were wounded on Friday evening after internal violence ensued
between supporters of Fatah and Hamas in the city of Beit Lahia in
northern Gaza, local media sources reported.
Most of the wounded were bystanders caught in random fire, part of the all consuming bloody events in Beit Lahia and the Gaza Strip.
These current causalities follow the killing of Hamas member Majed Darabaih and the wounding of his wife by anonymous gunfire.
Witnesses said that the Palestinian Internal Ministry's executive force blockaded the houses of Fatah members, Samih Madhoun and Baha' Abu Jarad, on Friday evening. Subsequently gunfire broke out, accounting for at least 15 residents out of the total 33 wounded.
Witnesses added that a state of relative calm has ensued this evening after community leaders, including factional figures, intervened by calling on the fighting parties, through local mosques' loudspeakers, to stop shooting and save the frequently spilled Palestinian blood.
