Abu Mojahid, media spokesperson of the Popular Resistance Committees,
one of three groups holding an Israeli soldier captive since June 25,
said that the group will not kill the soldier “Gilad Shalit” despite
the ongoing Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Abu Mojahid added that the Israeli shelling to the Palestinian houses in the Gaza Strip could also harm the captured soldier.
“We will not kill him under any circumstances”, Abu Mojahid stated, “But Shalit could be in any of the Palestinian houses Israel is shelling.
Also, Abu Mojahid said that the Israeli military assaults have only caused a delay in the prisoner swap deal, and obstructed the Egyptian efforts regarding this issue.
“We will not give up on our demands”, he stated, “We want a prisoner swap deal that serves the detainees held in Israeli prisons”.
Meanwhile, Israeli cabinet member, Avigdor Lieberman, said that the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyya, and the Interior Minister, Sa'id Siyam, “Will join the martyrs list if anything happens to Shalit.
