Spokesperson of the Palestinian Ministry of Interior, Khalid Abu Hilal,
stated on Sunday that that ministry arrested gunmen who reportedly
fired at the convoy of the Palestinian Minister of Interior Sa'id Siyam
on Sunday noon in Gaza City.
Abu Hilal refused to reveal the identity of the assailant or whether they belong to a certain Palestinian faction.
The attack took place as Siyam's convoy was driving in Al Jala' street in the center of Gaza City, no injuries were reported.
Eyewitnesses told the Ramattan News Agency that unknown gunmen driving a white vehicle fired at the convoy and sped away. Siyam's guards fired back at them, and chased the vehicle.
Mohammad Awad, Secretary of the Minister's Council, slammed the attack and demanded all armed groups to abide by the law.
Awad added that such attack are meant to escalate the internal conflicts and to deviate the Palestinian cause and struggle from its path.
