Unknown gunmen opened fire on Saturday morning at
a Palestinian Authority Security Forces official in Rafah city south of the Gaza strip, critically wounding him
and injuring his bodyguard.
Major Hassan Jarbou', the assistant director of the Preventative Palestinian Security Forces in Gaza was targeted by unknown gunmen in the town of Rafah while driving to his work this morning. The gunmen showered his car with live rounds, wounding him and his bodyguard, Palestinian sources reported.
Medical sources in Rafah said that the Major was transported to Abu Yousif Al Najar hospital in Rafah along with his bodyguard. Jarbou' sustained critical wounds while the bodyguard sustained light wounds, the sources added.
The Palestinian Security Forces in Rafah reported that they have opened an immediate investigation into the attack and will bring the people responsible for this assassination attempt to justice.
