The special committee formed by the Fateh and Hamas movements met in
Gaza on Friday evening and confirmed that all Palestinian factions,
especially Fateh and Hamas, are committed to end the internal clashes
and to implement the articles of the truce in order to deal with the
causes of the recent violent clashes between Fateh and Hamas fighters
in Gaza.

Representatives of Fateh and Hamas stated that the Higher Follow-up committee for Islamic and national factions decided to stop all smear campaigns and to operate a joint media office to follow-up the development and provide the correct information.

The two movements called on their members and supporters to abide by the law and refrain from carrying any illegal activities and attacks everywhere in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The meeting was held at the Gaza office of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in Gaza City.

The parties decided to create an independent investigation committee that will also monitor the implementation of ceasefire among the factions.

Kayed Al Ghoul, one of the leaders of the PFLP stated that the meeting addressed the recent developments in Gaza, and the procedures to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Fateh and Hams.

Al Ghoul added that leaders of five factions attended the meeting. The leaders are Abu Bakir Nofal representing Hamas, Tawfiq Abu Khousa and Abdul-Hakim Awad representing Fateh, Kayid Al Ghoul, Rabah Mhanna and Mohammad Touman representing the PFLP, Saleh Sedan and Saleh Nasser representing the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Adour Shihab from the Islamic Jihad.

Al Ghoul added the factions will hold continuous meetings in the coming days, and will meet on Sunday in order to follow the developments in the Palestinian areas.
